Lightism
Many times, I ask myself: Who is God? What is the role assigned to God? If God is omnipresent, why do people suffer from bad things? Why do people need God?
After three years of reflecting and researching within my mind, I finally reached a conclusion and found answers to my questions. These answers are simple, yet they might surprise you. I hope these thoughts help you realize the purpose of God and the connection between God and the human mind.
It’s important to note that this prose is not about any particular God or religion. It’s about us and the power of faith. I call this philosophy Lightism. This idea enlightened my mind, brought me happiness, and helped me overcome negative thoughts. I believe it can guide you toward happiness and success as well. It serves as a light to illuminate the brighter side of life.
Who is God?
At its core, God is a belief—faith in something or someone. It is a belief that strengthens our mind, enabling us to think positively about our actions or endeavors. When we succeed in those actions, we feel satisfied, and our belief deepens.
This belief is closely tied to emotions like happiness, satisfaction, and peace. These emotions arise unconsciously and create a positive mindset. Most importantly, this sense of positivity can come from anything you choose to believe in:
· Praying to a particular God,
· Admiring an inspiring individual,
· Following science,
· Practicing religious rituals, or
· Upholding personal ethics.
Example: In the early stages of civilization, people worshipped the Sun, Moon, oceans, animals, and even ordinary humans as gods. They believed these entities gave them a sense of positivity and well-being.
Similarly, I consider my personal ethics as my God—truth and the perfection of my actions. When I speak the truth and perform my actions with precision, I feel positive. For me, truth and perfection are my God. Ultimately, God depends on your belief. You can choose anything or anyone to be your God.
What is the role assigned to God?
God is a belief. The primary role of this belief is to support our positive thoughts and help us overcome negativity.
We must understand that grace and punishment are not distributed by God. The truth is simple:
· If you do good, your life improves.
· If you do bad, your life worsens.
Everything is in our hands. Belief in God provides mental support, but it cannot perform physical actions for us.
If God is omnipresent, why do people suffer from bad things?
God is omnipresent because every person holds belief in something. However, success only happens when belief is translated into physical action.
Prayer alone cannot solve problems. Physical effort is essential for change.
Example: Imagine you see a hungry, homeless old man outside a restaurant. Would you:
A) Pray for God to help him?
B) Share your food with him or buy him a meal?
Most people would choose (B). Why? Because they know food, not prayer, is what the man needs.
This highlights the reason people suffer: Many have the power to stop injustice and alleviate suffering but fail to take action. Instead, they rely solely on prayers, ignoring their own ability to make a difference.
Why do people need God?
This question might sound atheistic, but it is entirely logical. Many people believe in God to fulfill their desires, often misunderstanding the role of God. They mistakenly think that offering material gifts or performing rituals will 'buy' blessings, when in reality, blessings come through their own efforts and actions.
Every person is born with talents and abilities, which can be considered blessings. Success lies in developing these talents to fulfill your needs—not merely in praying for results.
Atheists often rely on self-belief, which brings them success. However, not everyone possesses such confidence. For many, God serves as an extra source of support to build self-confidence and overcome negativity.
Conclusion
These are my personal reflections on God. I don’t expect you to accept my opinion because beliefs are deeply personal and vary from person to person. God is tied to individual faith, so everyone’s idea of God is unique.
I believe that people should choose their own concept of God based on their convenience and personal values—not based on others’ expectations. God exists to promote humanity and uphold good values, not to punish or accumulate wealth.
